Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

Sounds like she's adjusting just as well as could possibly be hoped for! That's wonderful!!!

Just a quick update. Trouble gets stronger daily. She is now making it around the house without a problem. I put down the rubber shelf liner to give her some traction on the tile. We have this nice little path down the hallways, into the kitchen, and out the entranceway. Her food & water table have moved back to the kitchen.

Yesterday Bob cooked her a turkey, one of her favorite foods. The first turkey we cooked after we got her many years ago, she sat in front of the oven until it came out :crazy2:

Her walks outside are getting longer with fewer rest periods. Still waiting on the biopsy.

Mini Update - We've finished the meds (pain & antibiotics). She is not getting around quite so well today, but I figured it is the lack of pain meds. Also, yesterday she may have overdone it. She was feeling frisky and had a much longer then normal walk without resting.

The preliminary biopsy report has us guardedly optimistic. It appears the osteosarcoma was contained in the one area, however we won't know for sure until the remainder of the test results are in. We are contemplating doing a trial study, maybe University of Illinois, but haven't made a final decision yet.

She is snuggled up next to me now sleeping. She's such a good girl

I'm so hopeful! I hope the rest of the results are just as good.

Please keep us updated and tell that girl to rest!

Great News

Final biopsy results are in and the osteosarcoma is/was localized. The vet has never, ever, seen this in a report before. He is going to consult with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists and others before he makes a recommendation for additional treatment.

Bob spoke to the University of Illinois today, and we will not be participating in their chemo study. It would be too many trips, and the only purpose is to study the effects of a combination of two drugs already in existence. They did not feel there was enough to gain to spend that much travel time.

We are again giving a low dose of remadyl to combat the soreness. Will update again when we get the recommendation for treatment.
