Here's a blog entry from Dolittler that I thought was interesting.

In addition to the metacam and glucosamine supplements that Katy takes, she's also on gabapentin. The gabapentin has made a WORLD of difference in how she walks -- her gait is still stiff, but much looser than it was before when we just used the metacam.

Very interesting article. Thanks, Dee!

You're welcome, Jen. :)

I take gabapentin for peripheral neuropthy. I didn't know it was used for dogs.

In all the trouble we've had with Katy's arthritis, Dr Blabs called a canine pain-management specialist and that's what he suggested we try. It was kind of a last-ditch effort because Kate was SO uncomfortable, and it WORKED.

Great article, at least there are other choices to consider. I wouldn't consider Trouble chronic, she has not trouble (no pun intended) trotting about the yard when she is off leash, she's just a little slower than normal getting up and down.

Good morning our friends and support team. Today we celebrate! This is the six month anniversary of Trouble's diagnosis. We celebrate the extra time we've had with her. We celebrate the awesome Dr F and staff. We celebrate her excellent health. We celebrate each of you who have been with us along the way.

I went back last night and read the 22 pages of posts since that first day. It is hard to believe we are where we are today looking at where we started. Of course we know in our hearts this is a journey. We can have the rug pulled out from under us at any moment. That only makes each day Trouble is well another day to celebrate the borrowed time we have with her.

Thank you guys for being with us, for offering support, for keeping us on track. Today we celebrate your constant presence in our lives and on our journey. PBT Rules
