Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

I'm glad to hear he's eating something at least. I wish your regular vet would hurry up and let us know what's going on!

I know, right?! This has been the longest week of my life.

OH BTW, I called to make an appt with an oncologist but I can't get an appointment without a positive diagnosis of cancer. I told them I wanted to discuss the possible cancers and treatments and success rates and still they won't see me but they said they will talk to my vet.

But I want them to talk to ME. I'm a tad pissed about that . . .

You've had a long week of waiting and I certainly understand your frustration. I'm thinking a doggie specialist is no different than a human specialist. They won't see you without a referral. I know it was true with the allergist who tested and treated Trouble.

Hang tough, next week will bring you some answers and a plan of attack. Good thoughts coming to both of you!

Ugh, Sis... I can imagine how frustrated you are... :(

However - there are SO many variables that have to be considered, and I understand why the oncologist would hesitate to speculate.
Even when Mick got a definite diagnosis for lymphoma, my head was spinning after I got all the info... there are so many possible protocols for treatment, and each oncologist has his/her preferred method of how to apply them.

Hang in there for now - Monday is almost here.

Oncologists can be so snobby and a pain in the butt sometimes. However they will need to know what kind of cancer they are facing before anyting else so it makes since to wait until after they've spoken with your vet. Otherwise they would waste a lot of time talking about maybe senarios. Hopefully you'll have a great one that will not mind taking time to explain options once they know what they are dealig with. Waiting sure sucks though.

yeah, try not to take it personally :hug3:

its not YOU and Wally that is causing the specialist not to talk to you, it is other people who have taken too many liberties and wasted too much of their time. I know it is frustrating....
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

I hope you plan to chastise your vet for taking vacation and not leaving his personal cell # with you in case of emergencies. >(

I do have her cell number, but I'm not going to bother her on vacation. I'll just suffer.

I sent her an email and hopefully she'll get back to me ASAP.

I'm trying not to cry every 5 seconds but it's not working out so hot. Wally won't walk any further than the edge of the yard anymore. He will get out of bed and just stand and stare for a couple of minutes, then crawl back into bed. He won't play with toys, and of course I'm force feeding him most of his meals. He is still enjoying screaming at his sister, but even that has been lackluster.

Could it really be taking him this quickly? It makes me sick to my stomach to even think about.

I'm thinking about you and Wally a lot. Please let us know what the vet says as soon as you hear back. :(

Thanks for the support guys. I spoke with my vet and it's not looking good for surgery. I will go into it more later when I get home because I don't want to burst into tears for the third time at work in less than 4 hours.
