Used to live there. It is VERY yuppy. Fun for a while, laid back but yuppy as more people from other areas ( read California) have made it their home. The "keep Austin weird" saying is a joke these days. Sad. But pit bull housing can be found. Check out Craiglsist for your best bet.

Yep! My plan is for February. I need to get out of this flucking weather! I'm COLD!

My plan was North Carolina, but I'm keeping my options open. I've only ever heard amazing things about Austin, so it is a definite possibility. Even if it is in Texas... :giggle:

Yep, there is only 1 highway that runs through Austin. 35. And it is a BITCH, the city is not that big but I have spent an hour on the highway trying to get from one side of town to the other. I will tell you that Austin & further south it is hard to get a job if you are not bi-lingual. I'd say 75% of the ads require you to speak spanish as well as english. But Austin is a fun city, 6th street is a blast

And you BETTER let me know when you get there. It used to be a reasonable place to live as far as rent goes, not sure any more. Wages werent too bad but they are much better in Dallas. I would not encourage ANY one to move to Dallas though. :puke: But seriously, check out Craigslist & the Austin Statesman ( newspaper).

I found an apartment in South Austin!!!

They have no problem with me having the two pit bulls and it is very affordable! One bedroom, living room, balcony, washer/dryer, new kitchen appliances (including a dishwasher!).

The reviews for the complex werent awesome, and it sounds like it's in the ghetto, but whatever. There is a pool.

I found out for sure if I got it tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure I did.

I'M GOING TO BE IN AUSTIN IN 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!

:o :D

I'm going to be right near 35, and I want to get a job somewhere cool, so I'm really not worried.

Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to get all my stuff down there! :o

Thank you! I've also heard good things about The Salt Lick.

I would have never, in a million years, guess that I would be living in Tex-ass. Holy friggin CRAP!
