Wally

Postby mnp13 » August 5th, 2008, 10:40 pm

Wally started out his life as a racer, and a good one at that. When his sucessful career at the track was done it was time for him to start his next job - being Alyssa's bestest friend.

He was goofy:

Wally, you will always hold a special place in Alyssa's heart, she will miss you and we will miss you. But thank you for gracing us with your presence for a while, things won't be the same without you.

Wally, it takes a very special dog to reach across this world and touch so many people, just from pictures and stories on a dog forum. A dog with such character and spirit that it shone out of every photo. We all miss you so much, and we'll help your mom get through this. You were one in a million, and many tears are being shed for you and your mom.

My hands-down all-time-favorite pic of Sir Wallace... :heartbeat:

Image

It's the first picture I ever saw of him when I joined... and I knew right then that he was really "Royalty In Fur".

Wally - since your Mom despises the Rainbow Bridge w/a vengeance I will quote something in your honor that she might approve of... and I have reserved a spot in my heart, just for you. You are missed.

Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind;
Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

RIP my friend.

Thank you everyone. And a huge thank you to Michelle for making such a fantastic tribute.

I have been up all night alternately drinking, sobbing uncontrollably, and sleeping briefly. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. I just went through his collars so that I can wash them tomorrow and donate them to rescue (along with his muzzle . . . for some reason it really sets me off even though he wore it less than 5 times since he came home with me). I was trying to find just 1 collar to keep (along with the first toy that he came home with), but there are 3 that really remind me of him. His special "Wally" embroidered collar, that Noel made, his green celtic collar that Noel made, and his halloween skulls collar that one of my Greyhound friends made. It seems so foolish to keep 3 collars but I seriously can't give them up. I will have to figure out a way to display all of his stuff accordingly.

I'm also beyond happy that the toy I bought for him while waiting for his ride to show up during his transport to my house is still fully intact. I will always remember his first few moments home: he ran in the door with the blue octopus in his mouth, and proceeded to lift his leg on my mother's wall. Such an a-hole from the very beginning. I'm going to miss that profusely.

Again thank you PBT. There is no way I could have made it this far without you guys. It really means a lot that you're here. Thank you.

Rest easy, Wally.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

RIP Wally. You did so much to educate me about racing greyhounds and about how it's not all bad. I can't see another greyhound without wanting to tell their owner about you. Alyssa's love for you was so apparent, and you can rest easy (not at the Rainbow Bridge!) knowing that we'll be here to help her through this. We'll all miss you, Wally.

Alyssa, my heart breaks for you.

Missy and I are without computers, but Christine texted us this sad news lats night. Missy and I were in tears. I ran to the library this morning so I could use their computers...

As I write, the tears are still flowing down my face. Wally was OUR Greyhound. He was the only one I "knew". Please know how Wally's passing has affected many of us.

I am just so sorry.
