RIP Noel's Puppies

Postby msvette2u » January 9th, 2008, 10:51 pm

It was for the best, but either way they are gone...
Noel got spayed today and she was pregnant.
Four puppies :(
I am so dense, it never even occurred to me she might be pregnant!
The vet commented that they were probably her son's puppies so it's better and plus we don't need a litter, nor does the world.
It's still a little sad.

Here's a pic of her snoozing, on her favorite bed. The huge (and growing) belly and distended nipples didn't even clue me in!

We did this a couple of years ago with my brother's dog...he found her as a stray in the woods (he was at boy scout camp as a leader).

We had her spayed with puppies...it was the best choice, and though I was sad, I would do it again if needed.

So sorry you had to go through this...:hug3:

Thank you - this isn't the spay/abort we've done but I was less attached to the others girls.
I'm glad they aren't going to be here but sad in that way that you like new puppies, etc.
But I'm glad too, since Noel was not getting all the nutrition she needed and I didn't even know.
I'd definitely do it again.
We only chose to NOT spay/abort a litter when the puppies were less than a week away from being born, thank God there were only 4 babies that time, too (smaller breed, too!)
I'd still do it again, I'm sure.
I just feel so bad for Noel...?? Weird, I know.

Pics of Noel today (she looks thinner!!)

Not weird at all...I think we'd all feel this way.

My brother's little gal (Cimmy...short for Cimarron) had some maternal issues right after her spay/abort. She started nesting...up in my mom's bedroom...and took some toys up there and nested with them...she'd only come out to go potty. We were really upset...since she seemed to be upset too...but within a few days, she stopped going up there, and never looked back within a week. Whew...

So yeah, I completely understand...it's normal to feel this way. :hug3:
