Unfortunately a rapid growing mammary tumor took her from me very quickly. She was my favorite of all my rats.

I am so sorry :( Mammary tumors are the biggest enemy of female rats.

RIP Jingles. Maybe your love live on.

That was my 1st experience and it scares me because I have 4 other girls. Even if I had them speutered there is no guarantee that they will never have one. She weighed 474 grams in July and was happy and healthy. She dwindled down to nothing very quickly. :(

That's the crappy part. Even a spay at a young age isn't any guarantee they won't get mammory tumors. It is so unfair that these sweet little creatures get hit so hard with cancer and myco. That's what I hated the most about owning rats: the short lifespan that was even more shortened by those two diseases that you could do nothing to prevent.

Hopefully your other girls won't get hit by it. Neither of my two personal females had mammory tumors, which was basically unheard of, and passed on for other reasons. But every one of the females that I rescued and rehomed ended up with mammory tumors. And half of the males ended up with other sorts of tumors.

Again, I'm so sorry you're going through this. :groupHug:
