Please send good wishes for my Marine

Postby madremissy » November 3rd, 2008, 5:24 pm

This is my Glen. He is my adopted son. He and Josh have been best friends since the 5th grade. He has been in the Marines for 2 years. Please send good thoughts to him for making it thru Officer training. He wants to go on and enter the program to fly helicopters. He is very nervous about the school, but I know he will do great. He is a very special child. Semper Fi describes him to a T.
(Please, please excuse and misuse of words because I don't know the proper terms for the Marines.) Glen is trying to teach me but I can't remember all that. :( My Dad has been his mentor since entering and he continues to encourage him along the way.
Last night he got home from weekend duty and Munkee was scared of his fatigues. Then she realized it was her Uncle Glen and didn't want to let go.

Where is Officer training? Quantico, Virginia? My first husband was going to go there for Officer Candidate School many years ago, but changed his mind. I could have sworn he was going for the Air Force, but I don't really remember.

Thanks, Diane. His Dream is to go to Iraq to fight for our country. That scares the hell out of me but I am proud and support him.

I kind of figured that was probably his goal. These young men we help raise to be proud and strong and independent and patriotic....darn it they actually start acting like we wanted them to. I totally understand where you are.
