Poor Ashley :-( (Don't look, Purple!)

Postby msvette2u » September 4th, 2007, 1:46 pm

She was out back last night with her horse, barefooted (we live barefooted, her and I anyway)
And Bean stepped on her foot...we had it Xrayed but the dr. said nothing's broken. I'm waiting to see what the radiologist says...it's awfully swollen! :(

I know it...and Bean tried to avoid stepping on her!! He didn't stomp clean on it, he felt her foot and sorta slid his hoof, or it would be way worse than it is :(

Ouch! And that's why one of the cardinal rules around horses is to have sturdy shoes on!

Oh I know...we went out there on the spur of the moment...it never occurs to us to put on footwear in the summer :(
BTW her foot is huger than ever. I swear to God, if it isn't broken I'll be amazed but they said it was not. It's fatter than it was when I took this AMs pic...
It's so fat it's COLD now

I think so, too, Dee. Jeff mentioned that the nurse who did the Xray isn't a TECH, I mean it was a holiday. They had a skeleton crew on. I think she's going to be going in today unless it looks 100% better. She can't walk on it at all. We went to this Urgent care place that misdiagnosed Ty's fractured hand, too!
I mean, it was a different guy but he did GET that Ty's hand was broken, just not in the place it was actually broken...??
I'll let you guys know, what the doctor says...

 Geesh I took my friend to Seattle (again) today and I'm exhausted. He drove and he's a horrible driver. I'm wiped out, from "braking" on MY side of the car, which, unfortunately, had no brakes, but I'm worn out as if I ran a marathon!
Jeff took Ash in and OUR doctor took one look at the bruising and swelling and put her in a walking cast. For stability, she's still on crutches. He thinks it's broken. :( They could not find the xrays or the radiologist report, of COURSE, it figures. But either way, she's being taken care of, thank God. So much for Urgent care... :rolleyes2:

OMG! And it looks PAINFUL!!! A hairline fracture will also make your foot swell up like a balloon , but they are hard to detect on an x-ray... I really hope she'll be feeling better soon!!! :hug3:

Thank you-- she is in alot of pain, she does seem more relaxed or something, like she knows she's in good hands, and relieved it has the huge cast thingy on it. It's like a big brace that wraps up with velcro and stabilizes it all. I hope that they figure something out, if it needs more treatment than that, or anything...we'll see, I guess, they were going to try to find the Xray stuff tomorrow!

Awww... she has a Terminator Boot on!!! I had one of those when I had a hairline fracture... and those hurt more than when you just break a bone "regularly". The boot helps a little bit w/the pain... I hope she is on something else (something strong at that!) for pain as well... poor thing... :(

No, they didn't give her anything, she has a fairly high pain tolerance so if she's complaining, I KNOW it hurts. We were told to take Tylenol/Ibuprofen both at once and that's supposed to work as well as codiene.
