I hadn't seen that last pic before! That's beautiful! Is it a tapered one?

And you need to figure out some magical way to do a delicate Farmhand. I love that style with the 2 buckles. So just get right on that. :wink:

Thank you and Thank you!!!

Yep, it tapers from 2" to 1.5" at the tongue and buckle. How do you mean, "a delicate farmhand"? Cuz, if youre daring me... I can do it! :devil:

By "delicate Farmhand" I mean that's only 16" long and 1.5" wide, but still with the 2 buckles, and still strong. I can't imagine you can do a strong yet narrow Farmhand!

Cant imagine? Cant imagine strong yet narrow? Has the proverbial gauntlet been thrown?

Two questions:

#1. What color?
#2. Copper rivets or girly posts?

Sincerely,
Not a daft prick.

I only say "can't imagine" because those two strips of leather would have to be like, cat-sized, to make it work! lol

And that really wasn't a personal challenge, Brad. I was just picking on you. :wink:

But hypothetically speaking, that rugged brown you often use for them, and I think I'd say copper just to keep it rugged.

Nah, not a big deal really, each strap would still be a 1/2". On my girl, Gidget, the straps are 1/2". Now do you mean the brown pictured on these in the thread or the lighter color?

Jenn and Michelle, Thanks!!!

Yeah, its a skull nurse! :)

The farmhand is one of my favorites too, its just super heavy duty and wears like iron. Easy to clean with saddle soap, and I have zero care about it being beat and abused. If it gets soaked, a little saddle soap and oil and its good to go. If it getss muddy, beat it against the pavement to knock it off. The oil dyes are definitely more resistant to water and inclimate weather, but theres no reason it cant be dressed up for a more showy collar if it isnt going to be subjected to abuse.

heres what I use;

These are the first 2 farmhands I ever made! :)

I guess whichever one would be least likely to bleed onto Inara's neck if it got wet. I'd love a leather collar she could beat to hell and wear in the rain w/o me getting protective of it. :giggle:

Well Liz, because of the intended design of the collar, I dont dye the inside at all. So, in the oil dyes, I have a dark brown, pictured above in this thread,

a lighter brown, pictured here;

and the ever popular saddle tan.

Now, I'm told, the last collar pictured has been swimming in Puget Sound, and still looks brand new.

Oh, and of course, black.

That light brown is really pretty. So is the tan. But I think I prefer the light brown. :)

Hmmm...a leather collar that can take a beating? Definitely interested...:D Can you make a matching tiny one?
