Slip leads

Liz your leads are actually really nice and strong as well!! I have one that came with Sign and took Earl roller blading on it last night (I'm sure I looked odd on rollerblades with a pink and purple leash).

I did not expect to use this lead as much as I do but I now use it every time I take Val outside, unless we're going for a long walk. It's so easy to slip on and off, and so strong that no matter how feisty he's being that day it stands up to him. And it's long enough that his short stature isn't an issue - I love it! Fantastic slip lead, I will be ordering again in the future.

Made a couple new items tonight: a coupler and tab lead. Also found a way to braid so the colors spiral around instead of go in stripes. I'll post pics tomorrow.

New Stuff:

Tab Lead - can essentially be any length you want, but I'm figuring most will want between 6 and 12 inches

Coupler

Stripes of color or twisted color

New snaps I'll be using - the locking carabiner has a breaking point of 660 lbs and the snap has a breaking point of 90 lbs.

Liz one of your leads held up for a weight pull demo this weekend. I ran out of rope so used one of your heads to hook up to a 25 lb plate while it got dragged all over the grass by dogs

A question about the snap, if my dog is 65 pounds and ends up jerking at the end of the lead (trying to dash for freedom :rolleyes2:

) would it hold her? I would think that with forward motion she would put more than 65 pounds of strain on the snap, but I have no idea how much!

The leash I made for Inara has a regular bolt snap with a breaking point of like 70 lbs I think. She's 46 lbs and has definitely hit the end of it with force with no problems. Maybe a physics major will come along and offer some assistance! lol

And I would think if the leash is only 5-6' long that doesn't give them as much room to build up a head of steam like a long leash would. That's part of the reason I only use 4' leads now - Inara can't hit the end as hard if she lunges! (and there's no need for her to be 6' in front of me, but that's just my personal preference :wink:

I figured out how to make a 6' lead with a traffic handle for when you need your dog closer! I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It looks nice and is super strong. Please excuse the crappy photos and hateful look from Inara. :giggle:
