I got to handle a dog!

My friend breeds Ibizan hounds. She went to a UKC show this past weekend - all three of her dogs are already UKC champions. She needed some help handling her dogs and let me take one! It was nice because the show was super laid back and it was just her dogs in the ring so there wasn't any 'pressure'. Plus they are already finished, and my friend is all about having a good time.

The building was freezing. My friend said I could just wear jeans so that's what I did. We had a really good time. I would love to learn more about it. I had no clue what I was doing - the only instructions I was given was to make sure the dog was on the mat LOL.

I'm not sure how the point system works but my friend had her dog Marbles, I had Ikky, and another girl had Dina. In the first ring Marbles got Champion, Ikky got Reserve. In the second ring Marbles got Champion and Dina got reserve, I think they all got points because they all beat someone and I think they go towards their grand championship... but I could be off base .

I did keep him on the mat! He was a really good boy... I think for my next dog I definitely want an Ibizan Hound.

Very cool. UKC shows are very laid back. It's a great place to learn how the show scene works.
