Welcome to PBT!
Yes, my boy was dx'd w/Masticatory Myositis... he had one very bad episode where he couldn't open his mouth at all for a few days. He was on pain meds and Prednisone, and I got a meat grinder to make "RAW slushies"... my vet also put him on a "maintenance dose" of Prednisone (5 mg/day) for a few months, and he was doing really well - he is even able to chew bones again.
We have not had a huge problem since that first incident (*knocks on wood*), but once in a while I do notice that his jaw seems to be tender, and he will refuse hard treats.
Did Lucy have bloodwork done to diagnose this? There is a specific blood test that can confirm whether she has this disease or not, and unfortunately it is a chronic illness... but it can be managed, to a degree.
You can soften her kibble by soaking it in water for about 15 minutes before feeding, start giving very soft treats instead of hard biscuits, etc.
Let us know what your vet says...
