Hi, my name is Renee and I volunteer at two animal shelters in Springfield MA. I don't have a dog of my own, but I love pits! We get a lot of pits in the shelters in this area, so I have met plenty of them and still have nothing but good things to say about them.
I love to take the shelter dogs out for the day to get them some time away from that environment and also to get them some exposure. In February, I'm sitting in on a beginners dog training class in hopes of learning some useful things to teach the many shelter dogs to help increase their chances of adoption.
I do have one pet, Lucy, my big orange fluff ball who has been very tolerant of me testing the dogs' reactions around cats. She's a trooper :rolleyes2:

Welcome, Renee!

When I worked at a shelter, I LOVED taking the dogs for walks. Their attitudes were just so different and HAPPY getting away from the stress of the shelter walls. You could see it in the way they held their heads and their tails just a bit higher. We often took them to the beach, the stores (many local stores knew our rescue and allowed them) and anywhere else to make them feel like part of the real world.

Post photos of Lucy. :)

I can tell Renee has a soft spot for the "pitties" and she's very responsible. She's going to make a wonderful pit bull owner someday!

Welome to the club!
