Hi, I just found this board, and as a pit bull momma had to join.

Rosco is a 5 year-old Am Staff I adopted from a shelter in Boston. DH and I thought were were adopting a dog, turns out he's really a person in a dog's body!

In addition to our boy, we have a pointer/lab mix and an Aussie puppy who is my new performance/conformation dog.

We call them the Triplets, which of course leaves people scratching their heads.

Welcome! Why did you decide to adopt a pit bull?

We are in the Southern Tier, near Binghamton.

I actually didn't decide to adopt a pit. He was marked down as a beagle mix (by a very reputable shelter I might add). At four months old it was kind of hard to tell what he was, and I had never seen a pit before.

When we took him to the vet the next day for his first check up, the vet said, "well he's a healthy, happy pit bull puppy!" My jaw hit the floor, and then I went home and started to read everything I could find about my new dog.

5 years later he is a breed ambassador who changes people's opinions about pits everywhere he goes, and DH and I are in love.

Hi-ya! Welcome to your crew :greenWave:

Which shelter in Boston was it? I'm assuming if you're saying reputable it was either Angell or ARL . . .

Yup, it was one of those two. I'd rather not post the name, but feel free to PM me and I can send it to you that way if you would like to know.
