Hi everyone! What a nice board! Thanks for the invite... Woo wooo!
Gawd, I have to write an introduction???? Geez, most of you all know me from other places...
I've been involved with pit bulls since the 1970s, guess that makes me an old coot. I love the breed and would not want any other type of dog. I was lucky in that I got to know a few of the old timers like Howard Heinzl in AZ and Lou Colby in MA and John Fonseca in CA, and some others. I've had some nice Colby Heinzl dogs, and dogs from A.D. Castelli's breeding which was the old Wise's Max and Red Devil lines.
My current bulldog came from the TJ O'Connor shelter in Chicopee MA, I adopted her in 2002. I was going to get a dog from a breeder but when I started looking, I was appalled at all the huge over done dogs marketed as "pit bulls". My previous dog had died and I had not looked at pit bulls for about 8 years and what a difference 10 years made in this breed! I could not find any of the small 30 to 35 pound pit bulls that I was used to. Then I read about how many bulldogs are in shelters and rescues (only 1 of 600 gets a home!) and began my search there. I adopted a young brindle & white bitch and she's developed into a fine pet and companion...
I love the breed and try to fight BSL and help rescue. I admire the old style pit bulls which sadly are harder to find these days. I would love to have a little 25 pounder. But I can only have one dog due to limitations in my life. I read a lot and love books. I also have spent much time studying dog health and nutrition.
Thanks for the invitation to the board and I hope we all have fun!
(Now do I get the keys to the kingdom??)
