I have been meaning to get this book, oh...I dunno, for several years now!! Wondering if it will help -- Ruby is getting more and more reactive now (she is 7-8-ish). On a recent camping trip at an event, she snarked at or went after every single dog there including trying to go up and after a little dog that a lady let get too close to Ruby's tether - I said 'Bad Idea' so lady dives in and picks lil doggie up and I was actually surprised to see Ruby kind of try to follow it up in the lady's arms!! I smacked her on the head for that one but suspect that was the wrong reaction on my part. BUT last event-camping trip she was kind of snarky but after I started frantically shouting that someone had a loose EB running around... she started flirting uncontrollably with him and spinning pirouettes at the end of the leash to butt-slam him!!! I know you can't train out DA or the like but I'm thinking I can instill some more self control than she is currently exhibiting since she's really only kind of reactive.... I think... tho she is fence fighting more, too, on our walks. Will this book be a good purchase?

CU will help, but honestly, I'd recommend Behavior Adjustment Training by Grisha Stewart over CU. Doing BAT has really made a big difference for Inara. She's far from perfect, but she's at the point where she is often the calm dog while another freaks out. HUGE change for her.

Crap, Liz -- I just remembered I DID buy this book but haven't been setting aside 'reading time' lately..... I will also look into the one you recommended - thanks for your reply. I did just work with someone last weekend with Roobs and a treat bag - working on keeping focus on handler. I was taking pix, tho, so I didn't absorb enough and I'm waiting on some notes/summary of our session. Roobs is totally manageable I just want to learn/teach some more self control around everyday situations.....
