Is there an age requirement for certification? Meaning, does the dog have to be at least a year old, or something like that?

For the CGC, the dog does not have to be a year old. As long as he has completed all rounds of puppy shots, he can be tested. For most therapy dog organizations, the dog does have to be at least a year old. And the AKC does recommend that puppies tested for the CGC be retested as adults.

Yeah, there is no age requirement for CGC, they recommend retesting later on if you do it at a young age. ATTS requires your dog to be 18 monthes old. Each test has its specifics.

No age requirement for the CGC...but you can now do puppies in the AKC's Puppy STAR program! :D

I think TDI is a year

This is straight from the AKC website:

http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/program.cfm?page=2

There is no age limit for the CGC test. A dog is never too old to be a good citizen. Puppies who have completed all immunizations and boosters may be tested, however, because we know that behavior and temperament can change over time, when puppies pass the CGC test, owners should have them re-tested as adults.

The following policies apply for dog/handler teams interested in taking the TDI Test:

-Dogs must be a minimum of one year old to be tested.

Yeah, it's a little looser than CGC (not that the CGC is like the CD, etc)
