I haven't read the thesis mentioned...that's for tomorrow...but I'm interested in knowing more of the science behind clicker training...thought others might be too...

Thanks for that. I've been debating weather or not to go with a verbal marker or a clicker if/when I get my next working dog.

I'm not going to lie: whenever I see Karen Pryor's name I warm up the blade and get ready to slit my wrists. She is SO boring. Too technical, IMO, and quite often I find her talking about dogs as though they are all robots and forgetting about their natural instincts.

Now that being said, very interesting article. I will have to read the thesis when I get home from work. I agree that using the clicker as the marker as opposed to a voice for Teeny worked wonders when we were doing the basics.

I have used both the clicker and verbal markers with Dylan and have found that the clicker is more clear to Dylan when first learning a new behavior. However, I phase it out to use my verbal marker once he knows what I am asking.
