I have used the nylon choke. I prefered it over the chain. Walmart also sells a simlar type of colar that is a flat collar choke style and its adjustable. I have heard that a few people prefer that to the chain as well.

I also have this collar which switches from a flat to a choke. It is ok to keep him from sliping out.
But as a training collar. eh.

Have to put a link not sure how to just post a picture from a website yet sorry.

Thanks :D Funny how you see things around, but never know they had a "name"...

So, a Flat collar is just your everyday "run of the mill" nylon/leather collar right?

Ok dam it I see what you mean about cheaper I just got my order. The friggin collars are way to big and the rings where the the loop goes through is where they went cheap and the material hangs up on it. I have been wanting to just try a martingale before I spent good money on one. but I have not been able to find a martingale in the stores in his size. This stinks. I was looking forward to him wearing his nice new collar to class tonight.

How do you fit a martingale? Rocky's is way loose. I have it as tight as I can adjust it. However when It gets pulled tight the rings do not touch. Should the collar be worn down low or up high behind the ears?

Now that I spent 25.00 on a gentle leader chest harnes. $5.00 each on 2 martingale collars + 7.00 shipping. I could have bought one of Hoydens collars. In fact I was going to order a kit and try to make my own. But I need more confidence with the sewing machine. Sorry Im cheap. I dont even like to spend more than 15.00 on shirts for myself. Im a clearence queen.

i wouldnt even put the new collar on rocky tonight for class, i would not chance him slipping his head out if the collar doesnt fit right.. i know you can go into most pet stores like petco and try on the collars to find the right size.. and check out hoydens collars- they are to die for..

The rings should not touch when it is pulled tight.

The collar should fit up behind the ears.

And if you want a really nice one...all fabric, go to

http://www.mrsbones.com

Very expensive, but gorgeous...and well worth the price. You can even get them extra wide if you want....
