Rockie is a big, handsome brindle pit bull mix who is waiting for his forever home at the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, NJ. The shelter has found him to be very friendly and he has shown no aggression, but he pulls hard and needs obedience training. His owners told the shelter that Rockie is housebroken and OK with older children and other dogs, but he can be destructive when left alone. From one of our volunteers: "Rockie calms down very quickly when he is outside. He does not bother with the dogs in the other pens. Rockie knows the sit command and takes a treat very gently from my hand."

The shelter is packed; there isn't one single open cage. Dogs like Rockie - big, lovable mixed breeds who have been at the shelter a long time - need help and they need it now. So, if you have room in your heart for this sweet boy, please stop by the Bergen County Animal Shelter to meet him. The shelter is located at 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ, near Routes 17 & 46 in the meadowlands area of northern NJ and they are open 7 afternoons per week for adoptions. Rescues, please visit the shelter's website at http://www.co.bergen.nj.us/bcas/rescue.html to read their rescue policies before contacting the shelter. Rockie's shelter ID is 54345.
