Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - A potentially deadly disease has forced the Hartford dog pound into quarantine.

One puppy is dead and dozens of other animals may be at risk of picking up Parvo.

"They found quite a few that tested positive," said Dr. Mohan Sachdev, Kennedy Road Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Sachdev says once one dog is found to be infected all of them have to be removed and treated while the pound is cleaned.

"It's a very serious disease for the dogs. Once they get contaminated it causes very serious symptoms," he said.

The state Department of Agriculture says the quarantine will be lifted several days after the last dog shows symptoms.

Never make someone a priority in your life when that someone treats you like an option.
