pitbullmamaliz wrote:Well, another travesty of justice has occurred. I received the following info from a person who works at the Animal Welfare League:
We had a pre-trial today and she pled no contest. We are furious. She received 5 years reporting probation, 5 years not allowed to own, harbor or possess an animal, $750 fine with $600 suspended, pay $2,500 restitution over 5 years.

Gee. Hope none of that is too stressful for her. >(

She also begged me to crosspost all the dogs again as they HAVE to get them out of that warehouse. So please, if any of you can take one or know somebody who can, please contact the AWL.

While I understand how frustrating this must feel, I'm surprised she even made it to pre-trial and this is a pretty good outcome as far as judgements go. Please remember, as horrific as this is, hoarding is a mental illness. So unless the State is prepared to keep her in prison until she dies, the day they release her she will be back on the road to repeating unless she receives mental help and supervision.

Frankly, keeping people like this is jail is a complete waste of $$.

And trust me...they won't get any money and if they don't watch her and supervise her she will have animals again (usually within 6 months).

I agree with Diane. In my line of work I have encountered hoarders of belongings - not animals - thank God. It sounds like that is what this woman is.
From my understanding, hoarders are very emotionally distraut people, often trying to cure their own depression by surrounding themselves with good memories (belongings) or unconditional love/companionship (animals). And from my experience, they often don't know that they are hoarders. And when you try to point it out to them the they will run you up and down with excuses and tell you that you are unfairly persecuting them.
Obviously from her response about letting people foster or adopt out threw her "rescue", she has not come to the realization of what she has done to those animals. I sincerely hope the state gives her counseling and watches her closeley, or she will start "collecting" again.

Sophie is home and I am exhausted, but in a good way. My camera died at the end from all the pictures my friend took, so it's recharging so I can upload them. Sophie is an absolute BEAST. Sweet as could be but she is a solid monster. She reminds me a lot of Riggs - just solid and built like a brick shithouse. Sophie is way too sweet and delicate of a name for her so we have to think of something else. She's a big goon and just happy as could be. She's napping right now in her crate right now (snoring like a lumberjack), and I think that's a fine plan. I will start a thread just for her when the pics are ready to upload. :)

Thank you again to everybody who helped me rescue her.

Yes, because all the ones I keep coming up with sound boyish: Meathead, Goober, Goon, Monster, Beast, Tank, Tonka, etc. You see the theme - she's a beast! So I want something that sounds like a girl's name but also portrays her for the goober she is. :)

May be a beast now,,,,,but let the girl settle in!

She's a Cadillac!....That's how I am imagining her.....Big ,Powerful,,,and oh so cosy (sweet)...

She just might be a Renaissance girl....... Her demeanor just might take a turn once she settles in....Then you'll have a "beefy" lil' gal with a beastly type name.....To bad Lisa (sfbullygirl) took "LuLu",,,,something like that would be more fitting? (kinda like a universal type name,,,A sweet bull of a beefy girly girl!

Thanks for stepping up to her rescue! We are on your team,,,,hoping all goes well!

Good thoughts sent, that all will go like "clockwork",,,,with everyone in the house "happy" and amicable.

I like Xena, especially with Inara!

Here's what I have to offer so far:

Shakti - Hindu goddess - Divine Mother, symbol of sacred FORCE - Empowerment - divine feminine power and liberation

Well my philosophy is that to name a pet after a goddess is to honor the entity. I think (hope) that then the goddess will watch over and protect the pet. Yep, I've got some interesting Wiccan ways....

And it fits so well because Inara and The Piss (whose real name is Niobe) are both named after goddesses. :)
