Alexis

Postby Libby » April 1st, 2009, 12:38 am

Alexis is a one year old Border Collie/Great Pyranese cross, weighing about 60lbs. She is a very sweet, loving girl who would love to find an active family, children a plus!

She is intelligent, and loves to spend time with her people. I believe she would make a great agility prospect, and certainly a great jogging companion! Alexis gets along well with other dogs, is cat approved, and knows the basics. She is house and crate trained.

She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations, including the rattle snake vaccine.

Alexis will require a yard with a fence no less than six feet tall, since she has shown to be a jumper.

Is rattle snake vaccine commonly given where you are?

I don't think its really that known about around here. I only found out about it because my vet put a poster up, lol.

Rattlesnakes, on the other hand, are mucho common. The vaccine wont make them proof against rattlesnake venom, but it will give you a blessed hour more to get the dog into the vet before it starts to take major affect. Since I go hiking with the dogs all the time, it makes me feel more comfortable knowing I have that time frame to get them to treatment if they do get bit.

Oooo, interesting! Does it have to be given annually?

I'd definitely get it for my guys if I lived where rattlesnakes are common -- I hike a LOT with the dogs, too.

Yep. Its like any annual vaccine--when you first get the dog started, you give the initial injection, and then a booster two or three weeks later. Then its once a year after that.
