Shar-Pei mixes need help in Illinois

Postby SisMorphine » August 13th, 2008, 8:46 am

I am posting this for a member of one of the other forums I'm on. She is a young girls who LOVES her animals, but who's mother isn't giving them proper care. She has made the difficult decision, and has convinced her mother, that rehoming the animals is the most responsible thing to do. She does not want to drop them off at a shelter, so she is trying to rehome them herself. Personally I ADORE Padfoot.

PADFOOT
Shar-Pei/Malamute mix
Good with kids, okay with some cats but not so much with others, excellent with strangers. He's very very friendly, he loves to come up and lick your face. I fear he might have some problems being away from me at first, but I'm sure with plenty of love he will overcome that! He loves to have his skin on his neck and back grabbed and shaken back and forth and up and down his back, so don't forget to do this every day! As a side note, he hates to have his back end messed with at all from the waist back. He will push for pettings and snuggles if another dog is around!

Shar-Pei mix
Not sure how she is with kids but I wouldn't recommend it, okay with cats but will chase, not good with strangers coming into the home but will be okay when out on the leash. She's just as friendly as Padfoot but not as hyperactive as he is, being more laid-back. Like Padfoot, she likes to have her skin shaken. She has sensitive ears, so be careful with those... and maybe get them checked out.

Padfoot has been diagnosed with and Baby most likely has entropion that needs to be fixed ASAP!! Please help. The adoption fee is $50 per dog. Both are spayed/neutered.

This site was very helpful for me when we were looking for a place for Sherman: http://www.sharpeirescue.com/

I'll be sure to pass those along. I know she has already contacted a couple of Shar Pei rescues and I'm sure any more would be helpful.

Ugh I just want to squish Padfoot all day long. He reminds me of a happier Mike . . .

Sure that first one is a shar-pei mix? Looks like a smooth chow to me...I see a bit of shar pei in the face...that big smushy nose...but the breeds can have similar traits.

Shar-pei mixes often get the tiny ears that are unique to the breed itself...he's got big chow ears.

Just thinking here, because you might be able to get help from a chow rescue too. :|

Yup his momma is Baby, who is a known shar pei mix (though not sure with what) and daddy was a Malamute the mother used to own.
