Breed Guess

Postby Hundilein » July 10th, 2008, 1:36 pm

If this is not the right place for this, someone please move it.

I'm looking for breed guesses on a dog we have in rescue right now. These are his pictures from petfinder. He weighs about 40 pounds. Something happened to his shoulder before he was found as a stray and he had to have surgery (that's why he's got the staples). What breeds do you see in him?

Red heeler and a Beagle, or maybe just a good ol' fashioned hound and a heeler. :giggle:

Foxhound, beagle, heeler. Definitely "hound-something". He's handsome, whatever he is!

I agree with the houndiness. Coloring and face... Very beagle-y.

What's his overall size?

He weighs about 40 pounds. I'm not good at height in dogs. He's got long-ish legs, he's not really stocky.

We had him listed as an australian cattle dog, but no one was looking at him, and he doesn't act like a cattle dog, so I figured I'd see what else we might list him as.

Now that everyone is saying beagle-y things, I see that too. Maybe ACD/Beagle. With a few other things thrown in for good measure. :|

Thanks everyone!

List him as "utterly adorable".

I wish I could. That is my biggest gripe about online listings. "Adorable, medium-sized mutt" is not a choice. Neither are "adorable, small-sized mutt" and "adorable, large-sized mutt".

If ACD doesn't work, write him down as Beagle/ACD, people looking for beagle will come across him right away.

He is cute, his little smile was what made me think of my sister's crazy poop-eating beagle.

I don't see ACD...hounds can be ticked too...and many are. I just see generic hound mix...but a very cute one at that! :D

I see a lot of beagle in him. My husband says he thinks he might also have some spaniel too - brittany or boykin maybe?
