Flo at Leitchfield, KY, Grayson County

I cannot say enough good things about this shelter! What these volunteers do for the animals in their area is nothing short of amazing. Almost all of it is done out of their own pockets. There are routine transports of their animals to the Buffalo area as well as other places, so distance should not be an issue. They will bring their animals almost anywhere to ensure they are safe.

Flo came to us with 8 puppies; because she was such a good mother, she kept them cleaned up and we did not know that they were getting sick until it was too late. Only one, Keno, survived and that has been since October. I have driven by the place where Flo lived before coming to us – tied out with an old dog house. Both she and her “baby” are still here. We doubt that you could find a more fabulous dog than Flo. Here is what one volunteer wrote about her:

She is a wonderful dog. I commented just the other day that she is probably the best behaved dog that we have right now. She runs back and forth to the field by herself with Bucky. Sometimes Bucky strays over to where the cats are so that he can chase them, but Flo never does. When Keno was still with her, she would do her best to keep Keno from jumping on people, because she knows that's a no no. I had another female accidentally get loose one day and get in the field where she was. The other female bristled up but Flo just wagged her tail at her and ignored the rude behavior. She is always friendly to both males and females even when they act up. You can point to where you want her and if you let her know what it is that you want her to do, she'll do her best to obey. She is just an excellent dog who is well socialized and wants to please. She SOOOOOOO deserves a good home and lots of love.

One day a man came to the shelter looking for a dog and we introduced him and his 2 very young daughters to Flo. She was excellent with the children and did not try to jump on them at all. She was also very good with Beth’s school-age niece who came to help out at the shelter one day.

Look at her video showing her return to her kennel, and her video with us in the office. I will do a million more pictures and a million more videos if that’s what it will take to convince you that Flo should be out of the shelter and into your home or rescue. We had her spayed for free through the SNIP clinic, so her cost to rescue would be minimal. As for transport, shall we just limit it to “the ends of the earth?”

And here is a video of Keno her VERY feisty but sweet daughter. She will definitely need some training. The two do not have to go together although that would be the most fabulous thing ever.

keno looks like a bad case of mange, or some other skin condition....
