hmm i can send you a virtual bedroom... on http://www.neopets.com and or on http://www.gaiaonline.com :)
its free too....

I'd look into pedi spays.... for these 2 rescue's.... unless they have some medical reason to not do them.... till they are older... only because younger pups tend to be adopted quicker, not to mention less stress on you for having 4 dogs when you thought 2 was a handful :)

When I was at A&M, all the scientists were rushing to clone animals, and I was like, what? We have enough animals, how bout you eggheads get together and invent something like an injection or pill that will safely sterilize cats and dogs??

It seemed like a simple plan at first, until you think of all the bad things sickos could do with it. Ugh. Oh well. (Although I can think of a few humans I would have like to use it on, too!)

Geez, I'm turning into Joyce. Two labs in the house AND I'm taking threads off topic.

okay that was good! But I represent 1/2 of that I live with 1 lab and I never take threads off-topic...oh oopsie.

Back on topic, in our area finders of dogs have a legal responsibility to report the found dog to the local ACO; however, that does not necessarily translate to an obligation to take them to the shelter. The upside to that is, of course, the dog doesn't enter the shelter, the downside is, private parties have to hold a dog far longer than the shelter does - so be sure to find out how long, as a private party, you need to hold the pups to be completely legal in placing them.

Another possible option, if your local shelter is open to it, report them found, have them do the intake, apply and get approved as a foster home for the shelter - then pups don't go to shelter, you get to hold them for a shorter time period and then you can help shelter place puppies. Just a thought

Whew. What a day.

I spent so much time with the lab pups that I didn't get much time at all today to play with my babies. (Plus I washed my hands 47 times. They were getting sort of chapped!)

So I took my monsters out back to play fetch for a bit. Just snuggling and rolling around with them was so relaxing. I love them both SO much.

I hope I can find someone who will love these little labs like that!

Ok, one last post and then I am going to curl up in bed with Paulie and watch tv...

The little brown girl has pooped twice now, both full of icky long roundworms. (I looked 'em up, aren't you proud!)

Her stomach is down to normal size now!!!

The black one pooped once, no worms, normal tootsie rolls here. lol

So here's a photo for you to drool over, if you're a lab person. (Or a puppy person!)

lol Paulie says she's got a bit o' pit also.

Man, these girls are attached at the hip! The little runt follows the big black teddy bear all around. If big sister potties, little sister goes. Same with eating, drinking, and toys. She walks like a little piglet, bouncing around behind. It is cracking me up!

They should be house trained in about forty-five seconds with that black one leading the way. She whines and paws at the door and everything.

They slept crated all night with no fuss, went outside like big girls, and are eating a big breakfast. The crazy thunderstorm at five a.m. didn't even bother them.

You dont have to hold them until they are 6 months old to get them fixed. If you find a vet that will do it when they are healthy and at a good weight then I would do that. They are more adoptable as young puppies then the leggy 6 month old puppies.

And good for you for taking them in and helping them out.

Well, we are still battling the hershey squirts on occasion. Not mucousy or anything, just loose. There is a bit of blood in the stool of the black one every now and then.

They are eating and drinking well, however. No vomiting, or lethargy. (In fact, I wish they'd be still for a bit.) Their eyes have cleared up, and they are much, much brighter.

They have got super-high prey drives...if it moves, they are on it like white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm! The black one grunts like a pig, and makes all kinds of noises...she talks constantly.

Great personalities, both of them. The little runt we've been calling Piglet, because of her shape and the way she walks. I'm calling the black one Mustang Sally, because she skids from one end of the house to the other. They are two of the most affectionate dogs I've ever been around. They love to be cuddled like stuffed animals. (They feel like stuffed animals, too. The softest, fuzziest coats ever.)

We have an appointment with the vet next week, and once we've got a clean bill of health on them, we will look into how early we can safely have them spayed.

Right now we are talking with my aunt, who lives in Houston, about a possible "dog trade." We would take the pittie she took in, and give her the lab pups. UNLESS, that is, anyone is interested in either one of them now. *hint*

They crate trained almost immediately, and will go lay down in it when they are tired, or want a place to chew. (They have a thing for socks. I had to clean out from underneath the bed, because they kept finding them for me.)

So far so good, I suppose. Having four dogs all under the age of six months is quite a challenge, but it is nice to have separate front and back yards. I can't see why ANYONE would WANT to breed a dog and have a litter running around. I'm not even sure if I want kids at this point!! (Kidding...sorta.)

Paul and I have figured we are a pretty good team. We are even managing to work on wedding planning at the same time! (We did have to cancel plans to go out of town today though. We didn't want to leave them alone all evening.)

Still could use an extra crate though!

J, I'm not sure how small they are as pics can be deceiving, but I do have a small crate that is a tad bigger than the smallest ones. It was Tucker's when he was tiny..... If you can use it, let me know and I'll get it from a friend, I let her borrow it when she had her lab puppy.
