I'd never heard of it until a few days ago and once I found out they not only are trying to change the laws -- they actually have some legislators on their side -- I joined. They fight BSL, mills, unreasonable confinement, cruelty of all types and are very pro-pit bull.
I found out about it through a series of emails about a couple who had to take their dying cat (it was in an accident) to the vet that a town shelter uses. They were treated horrifically, the cat stripped from their arms and euthanized behind closed doors while they were trying to figure out how to pay the extra fee for the privelege of being with their beloved pet while it was being euthanized. Apparently nothing can be done about this type of abusive behavior unless it is addressed legally and there is no law. So, people are banding together to write one and get it passed. If you want change you have to work for it. It won't just come to you.
