NYC Fleet Week -- LOTS of photos!

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby Marinepits » May 27th, 2006, 5:35 pm

The hubby had his first complete day off in six weeks, so we ditched the cell phones, locked up the dogs, and high-tailed into NYC to see the sailors and Marines!

We toured several ships and here are a very few photos of the hundreds I took:

The USS Intrepid Air and Sea Museum:

Here's a Concorde docked at the Intrepid:

And here's the Growler submarine at the Intrepid:

The British ship HMS Scott, a research vessel. We wanted to tour, but they had just docked last night and the crew was recovering from liberty.

The USS Kearsarge, what a beauty!

And the USS Anzio, a guided missle cruiser:

Those are some GREAT pictures of some amazing ships!

My nephew was in the Navy for 5 years aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Awesome pics!!

Every year when it is Fleet Week we have fighter jets flying over our house constantly. My husband said he thinks there is a carrier that is around Long Island. They are so loud.

Have a great day!! :)

Yeah, it was pretty loud today, that's for sure. Lots of helicopters and jets.

The Coast Guard was having a blast today, too, racing up and down the Hudson.

Wow those are beautiful ships. I've always loved ships and aircraft. I wish we had something like that here.

Great shots! Nothing cooler than touring something soooo huge. I was on the USS Intrepid when I was about 15...very cool.
