I got a tip on my belt

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby luvmyangels » May 23rd, 2006, 7:11 pm

Two weeks ago I started Tae Kwon Do. My son has been going for 6 months and I thought it would be great for us to have something in common. He just recently got his yellow belt. He just turned 5 this month. So last night I got my 1st tip on my belt. When the instructor called my name I didn't answer because I was like he wasn't calling me. Then he called me again and I got up. When I got home my son got so excited that I got a tip. It was really cool.

I was really excited. I know it sounds odd but I needed that little boost. I guess we can all use it once in a while.

Congratulations!!
I have 3 "tips" (is that the tape on the belt??) on my white belt, when I get my black I can test for gold belt. It feels so good to be doing something like this at 41...it is a blast. And the kids, I thought would be embarrased, at 14 and 11, but they aren't and they are happy I'm doing it!

BTW are there other adults in your class? How many students? I'm the only adult in ours. lol But it's ok since my son is as tall as me (14) and we can do alot of the things as partners.

Last night's class had 10 adults plus 5 teenagers. It was a packed class. I am still trying to get the moves though. I feel like a spaz. The one thing I have to say though is when I leave that class I am so soaked with sweat I need a shower. It is an awesome feeling of accomplishment though.

I know what you mean. I feel like a klutz and lose my balance on some of the footwork but it's so much fun and yeah, a feeling of accomplishment :)

I end up laughing half the time when I lose my balance. I am just hoping they don't think I am disrespectful but I have to laugh at myself.

Thats what I was doing, very self-conscious but the instructor was fine with it, and always says "Sometimes us older people..." and I just laugh. I'm the only adult in our classes, but it's a very small town you'd never think had a studio anyway!
I see some of the parents looking on enviously and I'm thinking, "so get up here and do it!"

I'm surprised that no one has brought up the fact that being partners gives you the opportunity to beat up your son!!!! 8)
