Hey everyone,

Liz called me a little while ago, her mom called her and told her that her step father tried to commit suicide. She doesn't have a lot of details right now, but she is on her way to her mom's to be with her. They kicked her mom out of the hospital and told her that she couldn't return for three days. :shock:

So things are going to be a bit rough for them for a while.

Please keep them in your thoughts.

I may not know anyone here personally, but I'm a firm believer in how strangers become friends during trying times..

Thank you all. My stepdad has been threatening/talking about suicide all week. Today he drank until his BAC was .3 and then told my mom to just leave him so he could die and make everybody happier. He's hospitalized and going through a 72 hour detox/mental health evaluation. My mom isn't allowed to see him or talk to him during this time.

His detox is going to be very ugly and dangerous, so I appreciate the good thoughts continuing. Thanks.

Yeah, that's standard procedure in most detox/mental health facilities after a suicide attempt... it's supposed to be better for the patient, but it kind of leaves the loved ones swinging in the wind. :sad2:

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this.

If you have Inara with you, use her :) She'll be a good little stress reliever if you are able to take her for a decent walk every day in a quiet and peaceful place.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

You're right, Christine...standard procedure...the purpose is to remove any outside/additional stress while the patient is getting those first few fragile days...
