his heart is so badly damaged if the drs do surgery he will die, he has no more veins inhis legs left, those were taken out for the past 2 bypass surgeries he had ... the dr cant even attach any veins due to the damage to his heart and one remaining artery. they cant clear out the blockage either as his vein will rupture... nothing can be done

just got back. he is off the ventilator. , but still has a partial breathing mask to help him breathe. they took out his cathetor today, and 2 other ports in his leg/groin area. he had an ultrasound for his organs-gallbladder, kidneys... he is hooked up to 7 different things, he looks like a marionette on string... he is upset that there is nothing that can be done, but the dr said they will try some new medicine and therapy to try to get more blood to his heart.. its going to be a long road ahead, he wont be home for another week or two until his surgery area starts to heal.... i gave him the finger when i walked in and he cracked up then yelled at me cause it hurt to laugh, so he is on his way to his old self.... he also has liver disease and hepatitis C as well, plus congestive heart failure to add to his list, and sugar diabetes too.. but he is a tough old italian so i think he will do ok once he gets back on his feet, its just we dont know for how long he will last or if new medicine will work...

Though it doesn't sound like your Dad needs it, you may want to contact Hospice. they will help you deal with his illness. They are a great organization.

i am not telling until i get my bottle of vodka.......

just kidding, he came home yesterday(i feel he should have stayed another week in the hospital) and i have been running back and forth from their house to mine(thank goodness its only 15 minutes away now) today i did 15 yes 15 loads of laundry for my mom, with my dad being sick for a few months everything got out of control.... i spent most of my day today there doing laundry.. i swear i dont want to look at a laundry machine for a long time....) then i cleaned up, made beds, cleaned kitchen, bathroom, normal house stuff, then lugged laundry up 2 flights of stairs, all the normal house stuff..... i am glad he is home, but the outcome is still the same, if the drs cant get the clogged artery unclogged with medicine there is not much that can be done.. i looked into a procedure at john hopkins in MD but its not for my dad. his heart is soo badly damaged no surgery of any kind can be done...

I will send you some Vodka! What kind do you want? I wish I could get in touch with some of my relatives and have them cook you up some pierogies too. Nice fattening comfort food.

ME, you can probably get help with the house and shopping through Medicaire.

I was asking my sister about the surgery and she was telling me about the use of bovine, but said that maybe your Dad wasn't able to go through another surgery.
I've got my fingers crossed that meds will work for him!

If you need any help with Drs, my sister knows quite a bit and I'll be happy to ask her.

Thanks for the update! :hug3:
