Last Wednesday, Charlotte was in a wagon with a 17-month-old friend, Cade Spring, when the pit bull attacked near 14th and Pine Streets. Wendy Blevins held off the dog long enough so that she, friend Carley Spring and the toddlers could take refuge in a nearby house.
Last week, Wendy Blevins hesitated to support a ban on pit bulls that some city leaders have suggested. She said she needed more time to think about it. But on Tuesday, she said: "I would like a ban. I would."
Wendy Blevins referred to other pit bull attacks in Omaha and said the city has endured enough of them. She said her family likes dogs and has one of their own. But pit bulls are too dangerous, she said.
