Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Charleroi, PA -- Police said a resident was bitten as he tried to remove a pit bull from his porch Monday afternoon.
Police Superintendent Mike Matyas said Eric Hickman, 35, of 1201 Lookout Ave., reported the dog was on his porch when he came home at about 3 p.m.
Matyas said the tan-colored, mid-sized dog bit Hickman on the left arm, causing a puncture wound.
Matyas said Hickman was able to grab the dog by the back of the neck and hold it down until the borough's K-9 officer, William Gardner, arrived and restrained the animal.
The borough's animal control officer took the dog from the scene.
Matyas said the dog was not wearing a collar.
Mon Valley EMS treated Hickman at the scene.
