Cities With Pit Bull Bans: Less Attacks
Glenwood, IA - Some cities already have bans on pit bulls. Are they making a difference?
Three and a half years ago Council Bluffs banned pit bulls. You can still have a pitbull if you owned it before 2005. But with more laws and less pitbulls moving into the city there have been less attacks. In fact, this year there were zero attacks.
And they're not the only city to ban them. Glenwood passed a ban last year. "A vicious dog shall be destroyed, it's that simple. That's what it says in one part of the code, nothing else."
The police chief tells Action Three News, the ban happened when pit bull owners from Council Bluffs were moving into town.
There was some opposition to the ordinance but it passed four to one. They now have only four registered owners in Glenwood.
