NORTH DAKOTA -- The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of two pitbull dogs attacking a shetland pony near Pelican Rapids.
Authorities say the attack occurred about nine o'clock Sunday night on 190th avenue.
Both dogs bit the horse on the neck and were biting so hard that they were actually hanging by its neck when bystanders tried to get the dogs off the horse.
When the dogs let go of the horse, they turned their attention to people who were in the area. One of them bit a 17-year old boy on the right ankle. He was taken to St. Mary's hospital in Detroit Lakes for treatment. The dogs also knocked a pregnant woman to the ground.
The horse suffered several puncture wounds to its neck and injury to a hind leg. The injuries are not life threatening.
Charges against the dog's owner are pending.
