I decided it is finally time to buy new living room furniture. We have had our current furniture for about 8 years now and it is shot. We allowed the dogs on it and as you can imagine, they did a number on it.

We visited a showroom yesterday and found a few that we liked (trying to narrow it down now). The salesman said that microfiber is the way to go if you have pets (pet hair wipes off, liquid spills clean up easily).

Obviously the dogs are NOT going to be allowed on the couches (buying some new dog beds and installing gates into the entry ways of the living room).

Does anyone have microfiber furniture? Likes, dislikes?

One of my girlfriends has a microfiber couch/loveseat set, and it holds up VERY well to her 65 lb dog jumping on and off constantly. Her dog also likes to perch on the armrest like a cat. The microfiber doesn't have a scratch on it (and her dogs nails are WAYYYYY long) and there's no dog hair on it. So it seems to be the way to go!

We have microfiber couch/armchairs and ottoman. It holds up well. It does get dog hair on it, but wipes right off. Liquid spills are SUPER easy to clean up, and it DOES hold up well under the dogs' constant assault.

My future furniture will all be microfiber as well, methinks.

We had a lovely set of microfiber furniture for a couple of years. The spills did wipe right off, as did the dog hair, but after a while it picked up "doggy smell" and no matter what we tried to clean it, the smell stayed. We had to get rid of it after about three years.

We now have some leather furniture from Lazy Boy and it's WONDERFUL! No claw marks, hair doesn't stick, and it's so easy to clean.

Lol tell me about it

The dogs are NOT going to be allowed in the living room unless we are in there. Earl and Karma don't care much for the couch but Yoda will spend an hour with his body on the floor and his head on the couch staring at you until you let him up.

I just have to remember to stay strong

I have a microfiber and leather couch, I like it, the dogs like it too, but they can't get on it unless the blanket is spread out...they know that they cannot touch the mirofiber and stay on the blanket

Ok, I went with everyone's suggestions and went with microfiber

Heidi just called to tell me the new furniture will be delivered on Thursday. I'm going to have a reading chair with an ottoman (never had one of these before) :|

Time to install some gating and buy some new dog beds.

Poor Yoda won't know what hit him

I know you already made the purchase but I also have microfiber. I love it! Hair does get on it but like others have said, it wipes off easily.
