That 4th dog down is huge - is that a mastiff?

Looks like a lot of fun, but as usual, I will say - if I saw any of those dogs coming at me, I'd curl up fetal and cry.

I second the "nice" Cane comment. I think I'd be interested in owning one someday...

It does look like it was a blast! Which dog is yours?
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Very cool...Greg and I do PSA...but we're always interested in different things...

I know that Greg knows Chris Duhon and Matt Hammond....I'm sure he knows some others - but these are just people that he's mentioned knowing...

how long have you been doing this type of training?

None! :D I don't own any pointy noses. They mainly worked experienced dogs that day to test out the exercises and scenarios.

I know that Greg knows Chris Duhon and Matt Hammond

Small world, huh? Duhon didn't get to come, but Matt was there of course.

how long have you been doing this type of training?

I dabbled in a little Schutzhund years ago, ASR for a bit, been doing obedience for a few years now and I've been with the APPDA since its creation.

And what are the biggest differences you see between those sports? I know there are alot of people on here that are interested in sport, and I'm sure they'd like to know as well....

APPDA has two sections, the Police/Patrol Service Dog and the Personal Protection Dog. The PSD section is still under heavy construction as far as the exercises go. PPD is near completion, although it still has some polishing left to do. I don't know near as much about the PSD part, so I won't comment on it.

Some of the bigger differences (in PPD) is the level of pressure, more realistic scenarios and passive bites. There is also no tracking and there is not as much emphasis on bite vs Schutzhund's preference for a full mouth bite. There are quite a few differences, big and small. These are just a few obvious ones. We should have the rules and exercises put up by the end of July. Emphasis on should. :D Within a few days, we should have some videos of the training scenarios from this weekend. I can send those to you if you'd like, Katie.

Where are you located?

Georgia.
